ACECQA GuideGuide to the NQF — Provider and Service Approval

ACE is an education and exam preparation tool, not legal advice. Always verify obligations against current legislation and official NSW Regulatory Authority guidance.

Common reasons applicants fail

Provider approval is a legal status under the National Law that authorises a person or entity to operate one or more education and care services. As an applicant, you must demonstrate understanding of your legal obligations — not just business ownership.

Key points:

  • Provider approval is separate from service approval and CCS approval
  • The approved provider bears ultimate legal responsibility for compliance
  • NSW may require a knowledge assessment and/or interview
  • The Guide to the NQF must be read alongside the National Law and Regulations, with NSW-specific provisions checked separately

Exam tip: Be ready to explain what you would do as the accountable decision-maker, not what your staff would do.
